MrAcd Honorable. Feb 21, 0 10, 8. Im stuck between a few monitors but some of the monitors are 5ms. I was also wondering who made the best monitors to game on, i heard it was ASUS so i have been looking into them but if there is different i would like to know? P1nnacle Distinguished. Sep 12, 1, 0 19, It's a pretty big difference moving from a 16ms monitor, but not so much between 2 and 5, I don't know what your budget is, but if you can afford one, BenQ monitors are the MLG monitor of choice, and owning one myself, I absolutely love them.
If you're big into tweitch based games, getting a Hz monitor is a good idea too, it will give you a noticable advantage in games. Expensive, but worth it. I Am User Honorable. Dec 31, 52 0 10, 2. The difference between 2 and 5 isn't big, and you shouldn't even notice it. Personally, I like Philips monitors best. TBC1 Honorable. Sep 2, 1, 0 11, Your not going to notice a difference between 2ms and 5ms. Also, what's your budget? I could help in finding a good monitor. Mar 4, 0 10, I am personally having trouble with the concept of faster refresh speed with fixed refresh rates and just posted a thread asking this question.
What I mean is that even with a Hz refresh rate screen you are getting frames per second, or one frame every 8. So how is having any refresh speed of less than 8. Based on this I would say there is NO difference between 5ms and 2ms refresh speed but I might be wrong. Perhaps it has to do with "strobing" where the frame is only displayed for that amount of time? Therefore, a 60hz monitor is only capable of outputting 60fps. It can still feel smoother to play at a higher framerate than your monitor can display however, because input lag with your mouse will be reduced.
The higher the framerates go, the harder it is for the human eye to see the difference. Very few people can tell the Hz from the Hz refresh rate. A Hz monitor is the best deal for a competitive gamer who needs every advantage available. You cannot notice the difference between 1ms and 5ms, it is just too small. The difference is 0. A 2ms response time is good for gaming.
With a 2ms response time coupled with a decent refresh rate, you will notice a remarkable improvement in the gaming experience, including how smooth, fast, and responsive-to-control your gameplay is. Even TN panels are between average. With stuff like backlight strobing, on IPS panels you can get close to around More than enough for hz, and actually enough for hz or so.
No, not even 4ms is bad for competitive gaming. Remember Me. Home Gaming. Is 5ms ping good? When people read 8ms, 5ms, 2ms on monitor info, that is usually the very quickest and best case scenario that the monitor is capable of. In no circumstance does a monitor perform that well on a regular basis and especially not for games. Changing from white to black and to other colors takes much much much longer than the gray to gray measurement.
Most monitor manufacturers do not tell you how long more common transitions take, but the quicker your GTG, the quicker these other changes will be. The quicker your monitor, the better the chance that really extreme color changes won't take longer than the 16ms magical number. Is it safe to assume its 5ms GTG? GTG is what should be assumed if it isn't stated otherwise.
GTG is the most impressive looking number also the most meaningless but they don't tell you that , so that is what they use. I think it is GTG too. But they mention there that during gameplay there was no noticeable ghosting or input lag. Last edited: Mar 9, Dec 30, 4 I think it really depends on the person. Sep 18, 7, A few years ago I bought a 19" Samsung with x resolution and 8MB response time. Although I don't have it anymore I recall absolutely no ghosting playing some fps based games.
But I don't have a very precise visual perspective. NoQuarter Golden Member. Jan 1, 1, 0 But it does seem like it's 5ms GTG, which may not bother you, I don't have a problem with ghosting on any TN panel these days. Last edited by a moderator: Mar 9, Pantlegz Diamond Member. Jun 6, 4, 4 I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the difference it 3ms. Check something like cnet for a review It also kinda depends on the person, some people are more sensitive to ghosting.
Or they just want something to complain about. Response time ms in gaming is defined as the amount of time it takes from the time a person makes a request or calls a control to the time the request receives a response. It also refers to the speed at which the monitor transits from one color to another and from one shade to another. Is 1ms Response Time Good for Gaming? So generally, the lower the response time of a gaming monitor, the better the gaming experience.
The best response time for a gaming monitor is 5ms and below. With 2ms or even 1ms, you are sure to be in the sweet spot.
