How long is heroes of ruin

The bland environments are further broken up by levels, generally three standard levels followed by a generally impressive boss fight, at least mechanically. The actual fighting in Heroes of Ruin isn't much more than button mashing at the end of the day.

Potions are abundantly available and instantly usable, and the game's sole difficulty level isn't that challenging in the first place. Without challenge, slogging through the colorful creatures in Heroes of Ruins feels like filler for the main events.

It's tedious and annoying, and creatures constantly respawning behind the player makes backtracking to collect quest objectives even more so. Grouping with friends and strangers, makes the experience more bearable, but it doesn't seem to do anything for the difficulty. You'll get more creatures, but they aren't any more difficult than the ones you'd face alone.

Boss fights don't seem to be scaled for multiple players either, lessening the challenge of these visually impressive encounters even further.

At least the grouping process is smooth. I've had no trouble connecting to any number of established games, and other players regularly popped in when I hosted my own. Waiting for other players to spend skill points and change equipment can get a little annoying — a pause symbol appears over their head and monsters ignore them, turning on you — but all in all the feature has functioned admirably.

Players can trade equipment in the game, but there's really no point in doing so. Drops are plentiful, so you'll never find yourself in dire need. In fact, drops are so plentiful that by selling them you'll reach the game's gold piece cap of 99, before you're two thirds of the way through.

This is particularly fun, as once you reach that cap you can't sell off spare equipment. You'll be dropping expensive armor and weapons everywhere you go.

You're like Johnny Armorseed. Since its big reveal more than a year ago, Square Enix's Heroes of Ruin has enjoyed a unique brand of buzz among handheld gamers. Loot-heavy dungeon-crawlers with solid multiplayer support aren't exactly easy to come by on the Nintendo 3DS, so those of us who appreciate both this classic style of gameplay and the specific strengths of that portable were hard-pressed to find any other suitable alternative.

Still, even among this interested minority the reaction to the final product has been mixed. Yet amid frame-rate issues, questionable design decisions and off-putting audio glitches the title manages to offer the most addictive kind of gaming fun. Heroes of Ruin takes place in the fantasy realm of Veil where Ataraxis, the sphinx ruler of hub world Nexus, is dying. Taking the role of any of four different hero types, players must fight to find a cure and to unravel the mystery behind his supernatural affliction.

The game puts a nice slant on the classic character tropes offering speedy ranged fighter the Gunslinger, the tank-like Savage, the magic-using Alchitect and the paladin-style Vindicator.

I chose the last, and was pleased to find that all the visual tweaks I made to my lion-faced character model translated directly into the game's cut scenes. The problem with said cut scenes is that they seemed to waiver between engaging world-building and ugly, uninspired filler. It's a theme that plagued the game throughout with everything from level layout to quest types alternating between impressively immersive and just plain hackneyed. Nowhere was this more apparent than in the sound design.

This is what I did with the gunslinger and it added several extra hours. Then with the valor you collected from the daily challenges buy legendary gear to be the best prepared for the final boss battle, which is truly epic and will leave you thinking for a while. I met up with this lad through 3ds friendcodes. It is so easy to find someone to play with on the officail site and I highly recommend this if you want to fully experience what this game has to offer.

I have since made even more friends and we play together regularly. The voice chat varies from time to time but with the friends I play with it is fine. Every single boss battle is unique and intuitive, even better when you plan it out with a friend. The four characters are varied enough that you would want to play through with each one.

The gameplay is extremely fun and I enjoyed every minute of it. The graphics are a bit of a dissapointment as some areas are muddled but it doesnt overly affect the gameplay. One problem is that the online load time is quite long but you cant fix that. All in all this is a solid action rpg which I enjoyed thoroughly and if you follow my tips you will get many hours of gameplay from it. This review contains spoilers , click expand to view. This game is a great attempt at what they were clearly trying to do!

However, like most games, there were things left out most likely not of their choice , and some things had issues. I think they could have made the boss fights more engaging, and maybe a few more puzzles lots and lots of fighting, with breaks only found when you go back to nexus. Over all, they did do a lot of things right! The classes were unique and different, so each one had a slightly different experience. The game play mechanics were strong and easy to get ahold of.

The multi-player was good for what it was being played on. Over all, the pros outway the cons. Lastly, i just want to say that i really want to see a "Heroes of Ruin 2", and I hope to see that they learned from their mistakes. Theres not a lot to this game, its essentially Diablo Lite. Playing online with friends and family has added a lot of the value to it for me Theres not a lot to this game, its essentially Diablo Lite. Playing online with friends and family has added a lot of the value to it for me though.

Having voice chat on the 3DS is really great. Its too bad this is basically the only game that has that feature.

The game is fun while it lasts, has great online play, a forgettable story, repetitive gameplay, but is a lot of fun to kick back and waste some time with. Decent Diablo clone with a cheerful online. Played very well in the campaign, one point in playing the same no no. Another downside would Decent Diablo clone with a cheerful online. Another downside would refer to a small number of locations.

Heroes of ruin is what I believe to be the first attempt at a hack slash RPG with online features and voice chat on a portable. On that Heroes of ruin is what I believe to be the first attempt at a hack slash RPG with online features and voice chat on a portable. This single aspect is amazing for what it is, and I feel it should be taken full advantage of by a development team with a decent story writer, art designer and cast of voice actors.

Now for the not so promising side of this game- The story, art design and voice acting. The story is bland and utterly generic, leaving me to question where I was when the story was written, as I could have filled that job slot and been more thorough. Every mission left you doing mundane tasks for random people who never built a solid backbone to the story.
